Hannah Gadsby, like many women, is done hiding her anger, and in “Nanette” she bends the bounds of stand-up to accommodate it.http://nyer.cm/2Na3Cr0

Great show. Made me laugh and cry, and made me think, once again, how hard men made the world to women. We're changing that.

I wonder how many lefties hate black men because they figure black slaves didn't work hard enough

It's not comedy. It's a monologue, and she's far from the first to do it. It's not groundbreaking. It's not brave. It's self-indulgent airing. The shit you pay a therapist to suffer through, not charge your audience to endure.

Compare & contrast with Cosby, who made audiences laugh carefree around the world for decades, & was secretly drugging women to rape them. If her story makes you uncomfortable, it's not just her comedy (or lack thereof), it's the toxic atmosphere within which her life took place.

Immensely moving. It hit me more deeply than I expected it to. More than surpassed the hype. I felt empowered by her giving voice to her rage & her refusal to belittle herself. This isn’t something women have ever been encouraged to be: mad as hell & not gonna take it anymore.

Saw it. Found it boring. Not funny, not touching. She’s just screaming her anger. Obviously needs an audience for that. I respect her story, but I’m not willing to pay to listen to it

The social reflection is angry but not hateful. She did a great job. We can laugh and be aware that damage doesn’t have to leave a person broken. It is raw but maybe some don’t want to think about those parts.
