The flat Earth is the post-truth landscape. As a group, its residents view themselves as staunch empiricists, their eyes wide open. The truth, they say, can be grasped in experiments that anyone can do at home: http://nyer.cm/aEzT5pi pic.twitter.com/CuoTnr822x

It’s part of a much wider movement of people who aren’t swayed by facts or evidence, who shut down debate with cries of “fake” or “hoax”. Flat earth is the pinnacle, it’s where you go when when you have exhausted all the conspiracies which have at least one plausible element.

Yeah, it's not coincidence that flat earthers also believe in just about every other conspiracy you can find on YouTube, too.

I actually met this guy (we'll call him Idiot) and yes he is now a flat earther. First time I met him, he'd go on and on about the Catholic church running the show. He's in his fifties has a family and business. Every conspiracy out there, this Idiot believes it.

Lemme guess--they are disproportionately pro-Trump. Come on, wouldn't they have to be?

It's somewhat ironic as Donald Trump being president is a pretty big reason to want to hide away from reality.

I just can't take this seriously. This just reminds me of Terry Pratchett's books.

Flat earthers are made up mostly of trolls, and a few dimwits who they’ve convinced.

I think its a great debate as it shows us, that many things we "believe", we dont actually really "know" or have never verified on our own. Some get shaken by this...

If you support the holographic universe theory: Then you believe the universe is more likely to be a giant simulation and depending on the shape of the "circuit boards" that runs the program, it may in fact be "flat". Not that I want to give them a more credible explanation!!!
