What comes first, the music and the language or the political reality? Pretty sure knife crime in London was a thing before social media took hold.

I once was in a prison, in London, a work-related thing, and were upon a prisoner referred to heroin as 'my food'. I think some of the co-opted language around Hip-Hop and street 'slang' is used as rebellious way... of not 'fitting in' with 'normative society'.

And, to the initiated, what do those words refer to, if not stabbing? They're just metaphor? Of course, the increase in knife crime can't be blamed on music alone, but aggressive, macho music can glamorise violence as well as reflect it. It's an act of faith to assume otherwise.

If it's knives they can't handle, I hope they never face a church door.
