Clearly the opportunity to borrow exotic vehicles was a prime motivation for Jerry Seinfeld to create “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee”: http://nyer.cm/cqeRuri pic.twitter.com/3n3TBlbr3w

I like this show, but was there ever a more clearly defined space for white privilege as Comedians in Cars...?

Not inviting and argument. Would you explain. That comment?

I'm thinking a better phrasing might have been "class privilege", but honestly, every week he borrows a piece of some nameless person's collection so he can have the experience, WHILE taking another famous person on an afternoon joyride, WHILE drinking coffee. Pretty nice.😉

His history is one of struggling up the ranks as a stand up comic and then collaborating with Larry David to make the most successful comedy in TV history. In my opinion it isn't privilege when you earn it. He wasn't born into any of it. Thanks for the level headed response.

Thanks. I'm not questioning his history or work ethic. I had two friends who worked on Seinfeld. As much as I can tell, he seems a decent man. I am only looking at the paradigm of that show itself and what it exemplifies. And I'll thank you back for the level headed question!

My argument would be it is not privilege, they pay people for their time and possessions. They don't just get them. Or if it's free it's based on a benifit to both parties. I'm still learning about the concept so I'm open to enlightenment

I understand your point. Quid pro quo. I'm looking at this more as it's his job to do this show and that in and of itself is privilege. The job itself. He's paid to borrow antique cars, drive them, talk to other comedians about the philosoohy of being a comedian...1/2

That SOUNDS like a rich hack came up with a dumb premise, and yet, when you watch the show...nope, it's actually pretty lame

He can do as he wishes and I’m happy to tune into his and other comedian’s/comedienne’s view of society interpreted through their own baggage. Needs more female representation but they’re not whom he likes. We all have baggage, we all like to laugh, we all hate parts of society
