Under “cause of death,” the coroner had written in a sloped hand: “Attempt at criminal abortion, self-inflicted.” http://nyer.cm/BzQF4t6 pic.twitter.com/jCYyHtlJtT

“silence only helps to perpetuate the fallacy that outlawing abortion has ever stopped women from attempting it.”

The bottom line , If more women were in Congress , Reproductive choice would not be an issue. If it was a man that became pregnant, reproductive choice would not be an issue . It’s easy to take a stand when it’s not your body & responsibility

In Finding your roots, they discovered that John Turturro’s grandmother died from a self inflicted abortion. All I could think about was how desperate someone had to be to do this. It made me angry and sad at the same time.

My friend, a good catholic girl, and her fiancé were shocked by a pregnancy during wedding prep. They rented a cheap motel and he gave her an abortion with a coat hanger. She hemorrhaged but lived with med intervention. It was 1969. #AWomansRightToChoose

That was how they did abortions before Roe. With coat hangers. Results were hemorrhage, infection, sterility, death. Sad but true. I was around then.

Anthony Kennedy's retirement will be the death knell of the U.S. Prepare for new headlines with this same sentiment. Fascism and religious zealotry has taken over our country. If you're a woman, an immigrant, and/or gay, good luck to you.
