Soccer makes very little sense at the best of times, and today, in the dying moments of Iran’s World Cup match against Portugal, it made no sense at all.http://nyer.cm/l0db4oJ

It’s football and it makes sense to everyone but you. Everytime you are bad at something you create your own sport and call it the World Series or whatever. No one plays them but you. Learn Football and Rugby. Those are real.

The first MLB World Series was held in 1903. The first World Cup was held in 1930. Your point being?

That’s exactly my point. You call World Series a game you only play and no one cares for. Read a little. Some kind of Football has been played thousands of years.

Not only do I get it, I am rooting for Mexico in it. You don't need to put baseball down in order to love fùtbol. Baseball isn't as popular around the world, but it is loved by many people in many countries.

Nope, you got it wrong. New Yorker puts football down. People is only responding. Baseball is a very minor sport, a exotic thing for the overwhelming majority of the world population.

Firstly, this can be described in 5-6 sentences. Second, how can the referee better judge the intent of players without looking at the replays? Third and most importantly, football.

Also, if Iran beat Portugal and Morocco won, it won't necessarily knock Spain off.

Did you even look at the map? Many English speaking countries use soccer or a variant. Italy calls it calcio. Most people do call it a variant of football, but over a billion don't. People have different names for things.

How unfortunate you cannot make sense of it... but you have to wonder why so many people enjoy it so much (the most watched sports event in the history of human kind) I mean, you have to ask yourself, don't you? Do you think we're all under some sort of mass delusion?

You are hereby invited to watch a match in the temple of football, Maracanã. If you are struggling to make sense of football, you must come to Brazil. When the Brazilian team plays in the #FifaWorldCup2018, banks, schools, shopping centers... it all grinds to a halt!

😀 That's great, I didn't know that. Will check it more thoroughly. Anyhow, you did bring it to Brazil (many thanks) and we perfected it! Hence our 5 world championships against England's 1! On top of that, Brazil is the only country to have qualified to ALL world cups.
