France, which has one game left to play in the round-robin group stage, has already qualified for the knockout rounds, and could go deep into the tournament. If they do, it will be because of the diversity that many French citizens struggle to embrace.http://nyer.cm/VsWAuBg

I would like to know from which scientific study you can deduce that "it will be because of the diversity that many French citizens struggle to embrace"!!!

If you realized this today maybe you didn't watch the World Cup in 1998. The rest of the world did.

Right, now pick on the French and imply they are racist. Way to go NYer. You never miss a chance to bully and lie.

The French are happy to win in professional and amateur sports using immigrant talent. After the win many would prefer the immigrants, and descendants of immigrants, to just disappear.

Simplistic reasoning? Possibly, but probably not. Nonetheless, this is not an issue only in France. The article was on France and so the comment was too. The rise of xenophobic sentiment is evident everywhere in Europe. It is on the rise here in the US also.

It'd be nice if you or the person who wrote this article looked wholistically at french society. France has its issues, but it is probably more cosmopolitan than most wesstern countries. I'd be more careful about drawing parallels.

Granted. Nothing is simple. But certain aspects of any society, at any given time, tend to be more visible. The plight of the immigrant is a worldwide problem. However the article was about France, so too the comment. Similar could be said of many other countries.

I feel the article draws too many parallels, and most french people who are responding feel it is poorly researched

Understandable. No one likes being singled out. The article was on France, but much of the same applies elsewhere. I think we all, including the French, need to accept that this sentiment does exist. Sometimes even that which makes us uncomfortable provides food for thought.

Don't worry, that issue has been discussed in France for so many years. Even more since the recent terrorist attacks. We don't deny racism. We do our best to reach unity. And we're not doing so bad. #AllezLesBleus

TNY's repeated patronizing of France in annoying. Check US history of mass murder, slavery, and segregation, count how many racist crimes are perpetrated in the US VS in Here, before making statements about France's "struggle to embrace diversity". Mind your own struggles.

Shall I continue so that you get a better idea of what you’re talking of, or are you going to keep thinking you know better than us about what’s going on in France & Europe? You may dislike YOUR PRESIDENT @realDonaldTrump, but he sure knows better than you about E.U.’s problems !
