The missed penalty kick was a statistical blip that says nothing about Messi as a player, and it was a total referendum on who Messi is as a person.http://nyer.cm/8JywkTd

Let's hope Iceland get the hell out of the WC soon. Their plucky underdoggery is pointless and tedious.

Yes it does. He can miss a penalty but not on this podium. This is why Ronaldo is so much better!

He didn't miss. Hannes defended, brilliantly I might add.

Nope, he missed. Penalties kicked slightly to the side and mid height are easily defensible. Almost the same of kicking it to the bleachers

No, you’re right, it was awesomely kicked and one the best defenses in WC history. Ever.

Messi has missed some key penalties in the world stage. He lacked the confidence, you could see it in his face. I called it, unfortunately. Horrible placement, great goalie.

The issue is when an entire team revolves around one player, the rest of the squad are always in shadow.

Wrong...it says he continues to wilt under pressure at the highest level. Somehow his nemesis Ronaldo always seems to elevate his national team.
