A rather sudden consensus of people who keep score regarding canons has come to rank Giacometti as the world’s greatest modern sculptor after Rodin: http://nyer.cm/Lj8RhnI pic.twitter.com/NnNqwaLblY

I always found him gimmicky. His work never moved me in any way.... or communicated much of anything.

Really? Gimmicky? That's probably the last word I would ever use for his work. Gimmicky...I'm really trying to think on his pieces and understand what you mean. Can you help me?

A gimmick is what they looked like to me, with no feeling for real human bodies, their shape, musculature, dimensions. And those big, clumsy, triangular feet.... needed I guess, so they don't fall over. It would be a dull world if we all had the same tastes though.
