What it is in the Canadian national character that makes Canadians so ready to take on bullies? Canada has been doing this as long as there has been a Canada. http://nyer.cm/lgvOaWn

I think it comes from our peace keeping past. Stand up for those who need help, speak out against injustice, and always be polite.

Please, do not idealize our country's entirely superficial commitment to fair play and justice. Justin Trudeau "stands up" for US oil companies. I can only claim to be Winnipeg Icelandic - not Winnipeg Jewish as well - but I recognize the glory of the combination of the author's wife's Canadian roots. This article made me smile, proudly. Canadian-like. ❤️👏

It’s basically a similar social cohesion argument some have used to argue the rest of Canada is a healthier society than Quebec.

Hockey, poutine, diversity, immigrants, low crime rates, social solidarity, bilingualism (French and English) Quebec. Many PM’s came from this great province. Our potential bullies (Harper, Ford...) always manage to lead in the middle. Canuck (David) vs Donald (Goliath).
