Tony was one of us. His imperfections were his gift. He was real, raw and he was loved. Truly tragic. I thank him for taking us on his journey and am so sad it is over. RIP Tony.

Any outrage on Twitter, or just an outporing of sadness for a selfish act? Another young child left behind: heartbroken. And yes I do "know." Major depression and 2 young kids. Would NEVER do that to them With all of his $$ and resources, should have done whatever it took.

I read a great interview literally a few weeks ago...the article escaped me but this is the piece he spoke of....How it propelled him forwards onto his journey writing with candour about food and making TV. What a food hero. Watched him for decades. RIP #AnthonyBourdain

It should be noted that he didn't seem to appear on the public scene until his early 40s. The tragedy of his loss aside, there's also a 'never too late' lesson in there somewhere.

It's his voice, the rambling know-it-all voice I know from salivating in front of the TV screen. I got to a point in this article -- no spoilers, but it involves the word comrade -- and started laughing until tears welled up. Thank you, AB, for all you were.
