Kaiser Wilhelm II was convinced that he was brilliant, despite all evidence to the contrary, at “personal diplomacy,” or fixing foreign policy through one-on-one meetings with other European monarchs and statesmen. (He was not).http://nyer.cm/8ujAwMH

This story does not portend good things for our Republic. True words: "The Ignorance of One Voter in a Democracy Impairs the Security of All" - John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Support, contribute & vote for candidates who will mitigate and contain the Trump Administration's damage.

There are really really freaky comparisons to be made when you look at what's been written about Willy's potential psychiatric issues.

I've read a lot about this era. The supposed mistake Wilhelm made was standing up for Austria.

Very interesting article. I wonder how the German people felt about Kaiser Wilhelm? Did he enjoy unquestioning support of the uninformed?

After the war "we" drove him out of the country. He had to go to the Netherlands and live there in exile. But there certainly were Germans (generally on the right side of the political spectrum and believers of the stab-in-the-back-myth), who still supported him/monarchy.

Kaiser Wilhelm II was born into a leadership role he didn’t earn. Reminds me of Hillary who basically tried to marry into the Presidency.
