In the instant case of Trump, the GOP is essentially attempting to assert conflicting legal positions in a related, official proceeding, i.e., it can't be both. Clinton can't be "held to account for ____ " and yet, alas, Trump is above the law. That violates Judicial Estoppel.

With a cursory review of the operative facts of Clinton v. Jones- to say nothing of the impeachment proceedings arising thereto- the applicable Law of Judicial Estoppel comes to mind. Think about it.

The one person in each administration who doesn't have the right to say what is impeachable for the POTUS is the POTUS, otherwise they wouldn't be able to be impeached at all. No special treatment for money.
