I can’t believe such article came from The New Yorker. Toxic musculinity and xenophobia jumped out, didn’t it? Anyway, here’s Rolling Stone doing the research.https://twitter.com/rollingstone/status/1001523922897178624?s=21 …

Shaking my head. Still poorly-researched, misrepresents the band’s following, and is condescending. Not worthy of The New Yorker’s standards or readers’.

I think music industry is getting really diverse as well. Today, we are able to easily access to such music from all over the world. Anyway, time flies. Gangnam Style was 6 years ago!? Wow.

This is one of the worst things I've ever read that involved fetishizing and demasculinizing Asian men once more. Why must you write an article that misses the whole point of why so many people are willing to support these men? https://twitter.com/NewYorker/status/1001584039244034048 …

You stated some real points as to why kpop DIDN'T make it to US but bts did. For actually a journalist to write a sorry your research seems quite limited. Bts didn't break it into America bcz China stopped kpop. If it were the case why didn't the other acts didn't and BTS did.
