Misunderstanding the (our goals, intentions, policy building philosophy) boils down to the following question: "Why is voting reform so important to get across the finish line that it's worth putting aside, even just temporarily, ideological differences?" [a 🧵]

Did you know if you create an infographic, booklet, etc that explains problems with choose-one-only voting, power-locking (aka gerrymandering), or closed primaries, you can submit it to to get it out to reformers across the country? So cool!

This summarizes why using shame and guilt to win a debate or argument or election, or why cancel culture is ultimately not productive. embodies a different and much needed pathway.

when you create a culture that is afraid to say how they really feel, they might comply in the short run, but in the long run you will only create resentment and fuel the counter culture of the next generations

According to a new book by a distinguished economist, insecurity—not inequality—is the source of our worldwide democratic erosion. And in poor countries even more than in rich ones a #BasicIncome is required in order to reduce not poverty but insecurity.

I took a differential equations class in college twice. Not sure how I passed the second time. I still get flashbacks of feeling helpless/confused sitting through those lectures. Is it weird that I want to try and re-take that class as an adult to prove to myself I can do it?

If they do, I hope they run into this one and remember how loved and supported they made me and my wife feel on the night of February 1, 2023. We're so lucky to have friends like you all.

It's kind of a morbid thought, but after I pass away (hopefully many many years from now), I imagine my Twitter account will live on and perhaps my friends will be scrolling through my tweets.

I know not many of my IRL friends are on Twitter/follow me, but I just have to put it out into the world that I'm incredibly lucky to have friends that look out for me and my wife.

The need for a new political party in America is clear. Our current system is failing us & it is time for a change. We need a party that is focused on the needs of the American people that helps to create a more diverse & inclusive political landscape. It's time to move #Forward.

It's why any supporter that is a *former* Republican or *former* Democrat should not have their former party affiliation held against them. More specifically, Dems that dislike FWD for having *former* Republicans is tribalism at its finest.

I really appreciate people on the Left who criticize the Left, and I really appreciate people on the Right who criticize the Right. I really appreciate people who aren’t afraid to call out their own side, their own team. We need more of this.

In other words, voting reform isn't just about 3rd parties, it's about holding Dems and Republicans to a higher standard by being able to hold them accountable. If we want Dems and Republicans to work for us, then we need to align their incentives with us as well.

An underrated part about RCV/STAR that I think needs to be emphasized more: While RCV/STAR gives 3rd party candidates a pathway to viability, it's perhaps even more important how RCV/STAR would make elected officials accountable to ALL constituents.

Which leads me to the point and intentions of Forward: Forward's voting reform agenda would result in making politicians of ANY party more effective for their constituents.

, I know this is a long shot, but in the small chance that you read this, it would be incredible for you to have a conversation with so that you could see how putting your resources towards voting reform could be the greatest way to utilize your resources.

I know is doing his best, and if other rich people with resources followed his example, this world would be so much better off. However, it would be an even better use of resources to attack the system head on. talks about how charity isn't the answer.

Members of Congress have an unfair advantage in the stock market. As much as I disagree with Sen. Hawley on 99.99999% of the issues, I wholeheartedly agree with his PELOSI Act to ban members of Congress and their spouses from trading stocks.
