It's the weekend before Halloween, you have a Shudder subscription (or you're cashing in on the free week) and you want something scary to watch. Lucky for you, I've got some suggestions!
THE FOG - My second favorite John Carpenter horror movie (would be my FIRST fave if The Thing wasn't so goddamn good). If the opening scene doesn't make it obvious, this movie is a perfect campfire tale, full of suspense, atmosphere, and sinister spirits.https://www.shudder.com/movies/watch/the-fog/2671859 …

THE BIRDS - What makes this movie so great is how it starts in the completely opposite genre, and is slowly invaded by unexpected terror. That, and the quietude. The lack of musical score making it easier for us to hear the faintest flapping of wings.https://www.shudder.com/movies/watch/the-birds/4412449 …

CITADEL - Okay, enough subtlety, it's time to be punched in the gut. How about this tale of an agoraphobic widower struggling to protect his infant daughter from the horrors lurking just outside his front door. (But are they real, or only in his mind?)https://www.shudder.com/movies/watch/citadel/2227957 …

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD - I feel like lots of people know this movie, but few have actually seen it. If true, that's a damn shame, because it's terrific. The definitive "trapped in a house with strangers while a legion of horrors tries to get in" movie.https://www.shudder.com/movies/watch/night-of-the-living-dead/2227837 …

SPRING - Now we bring it on down for the story of a wayward young man who buys a one way ticket to escape from a directionless life. What he finds on the other side of the world is something ancient, dangerous, and beautiful.https://www.shudder.com/movies/watch/spring/3572462 …
