I had the same conversation with my 7 year old. He was only slightly more accepting.
I told my 5 year old that infinity isn't a number but rather that there is no end to numbers and infinity is a word we use to describe that concept, and he seems to be taking it hard and is blaming me for the situation.

The concept of infinity messed me up quite badly as a kid. I linked it to the concept of eternity and couldn't sleep for a few months. I figure that's probably what drove me away from any religious belief.
