@TeamYouTube Sending a private youtube link to a contact does not allow viewing even after sign in. How to invite private viewing other than this?

Just to confirm, what you want is for some people to be able to view your videos without publishing it as public? If so, you can mark your videos as unlisted–this will allow people with the link to view the video. If you this is about something else, please share more details.

I am actually interested in keeping the video private while sharing it with a select few. Unlisted would allow people to distribute the link, which I would not want to be the case.

You can actually share private videos which can only be seen by people who have been invited to view the video: https://yt.be/help/dwbN . Check here to change the video privacy settings: https://yt.be/help/gv26 . Hope this helps!

I have seen all this information but it leaves out the following: how exactly do I invite someone? What precisely do I do to invite Sam or Suzie? Send them a link via email? That did not work. So there must be another trick to the “invitation” process. Your links do not tell.

I found the answer but it sure is not self evident: go to edit video, click on additional features on left, select share privately, enter emails of invitees separated by commas, check send email box, and enter. You should include this in your instructions.
