I visited these rain forests and their defenders just last week. This is truly gut wrenching. This coupe is one of the most beautiful carbon rich forests you will ever see, age old myrtle and sassafras trees are falling this afternoon. For what? Just insane. Criminal

I just love the little hop this Downy Woodpecker does to get a closer look at the morning’s food offerings.

My favourite tawny frogmouth is back in the tree next to my bedroom, lulling me to sleep with its soft, deep & continuous "oom, oom, oom." Notice its weak feet that don't have curved talons - different to owls. Love their scruffy, wide-mouthed face.

McKenzie quitting for "conflict of interest" is Capone being jailed for tax evasion stuff. The entire program was intended to be a rort from the get-go, no matter who ran it, motivated by base partisanship and reflecting the instincts of a government that is corrupt to its core.

Snowflake On a Crow's Wing. In a parallel universe, that is also the title of a terrible book of poems by Teenage Goth John who aims to be the queer male version of Sylvia Plath. (To be read by moonlight, absinthe in hand, in-between contemplating the abyss.) Photo: Shawn Bergman

Under Scomo laws anyone blocking these koala killers face a year in jail. Koala death rate now highest since great Aussie shoot-for-fur slaughter of the 1920s. Where is Labor Premier ? Congrats for exposing this shocker.

This is the mortal remains of a Notolioon nodipennis . If you think about it - and likely you don't - every square metre of the soil is the graveyard of billions of organisms that have gone before. Most recycled, some awaiting.
