For the relatives that just won’t leave the island, for the ones that are trying. For the ones on the mainland for whom watching this unfold is terrifying. For the ones that are there and afraid. For the PTSD that will live in our bones. Puerto Rico cries again.
I am scared. And I hope that’s ok to say. Not just for what’s happening- but because recovery takes competent ethical leadership and that is not what we have. Both the island and the mainland are questionable at best. Anyone coming at me with this is not the time ...
can stick it where the sun don’t shine today. When we vote for leadership- we have to remember to think of the least of these. Who are the most vulnerable impacted by who’s in power? We are seeing the ramifications of our actions now- at home and all over the world.
I see your tears. En solidaridad. 
I’m here now. Power co. swears it’ll restore power today for most ppl. No one believes them. My family & many others are traumatized & preparing as if they had to live w/o power for weeks, if not months. The trauma runs deep.
We hear you, even if our leadership doesn't. Hang on, we're coming! And by the way, world kichens is there for immediate food needs.
I'm crying with you. I cannot believe how much pain & suffering has hit the island.
Holding you all in our hearts and prayers. My husband is on his way to San Juan in a couple of hours. His company is determined to keep operating to get folks off the island.
The problem is not just the ones who “will not leave the island” but just as important the ones who CANNOT leave the island. And I agree that we need ethical, competent leadership. We all need to vote to make that happen. It is not just someone else’s problem.
