the auto industry makes v.good money supplying parts long after a model has gone out of production. They're mandated to by law but I'm sure the profit from after-sales are worth their effort. Absolutely agree about tech products, however, esp. those sealed so they're unfixable.

I was talking more about how you can’t replace your own spark plugs any more. You are forced to go to a mechanic. Which is cool in that you keep mechanics working, but it’s good if you don’t have to take it for the easy stuff. When I was younger it would have flattened me.
