"Oort’s 'esssential kenosis' view was abysmal. He says bluntly that God 'cannot totally control lesser entities.' (p. 90). Craig rightly dismisses this view in his response as 'not Christianity' and 'manifestly unbiblical' (p. 145)."

A lot of Post-Evangelical and Progressive Christians claim they left churches because those churches could not handle their hard & inconvenient questions. When I engage such people, often the real issue is they just can't handle the hard & inconvenient answers to their questions.

It's naive to think that we can't be influenced by critical theory if we haven't even heard of it. On the contrary, we're often *most* influenced by ideas that we take for granted, and which we've never questioned. That's one of the true insights of critical theory.

Magnificent thread. Concerns about Critical Race Theory/Intersectionality and a desire for greater ethnic diversity in the church are not mutually exclusive. You can reject the former without rejecting the latter.

For those puzzling over this article and wondering "why would wealthy white women pay money to be berated?" you could equally ask "why buy indulgences?" The answers are the same: our religious impulse. We're trying to atone for our sin.

According to , three conditions promote consideration of alternative points of view: 1) being accountable before an audience 2) whose views are unknown and 3) who is well-informed. For the Christian, these conditions are always satisfied:

Just finished Loomba's Colonialism/Postcolonialism and it's interesting to see her comment on the tensions between the Marxists and the post-structuralists like Foucault. Grand narratives don't mix well with the deconstruction of all grand narratives
