Note that one of the primary utilities of Chechen forces for Putin is that Russian public will care much less if they are killed (than ethnic Russians). Much greater political tolerance for casualties.

Source for this video (a longtime friend and Grozny native) says there is little enthusiasm evident among the recruits. People are often forced into such situations in Chechnya.

Whether this is true or not, sending troops from a far-away region of the country to squash any resistance, is a tried and tested Soviet method. And sending non-slavs is perhaps no co-incidence either

Chechens were proud people, putting hard resistance against Russia. Especially in Grozny. Now they are neutered puppies for their masters in Russia.

I've heard today that Ukrainian soldiers are calling chechens the "Christmas trees" because they always leave a bunch of really good equipment after they are, ehm, fall asleep
