During Scotland's Climate Week it's worth reiterating that Scotland's bryophyte flora (our mosses and liverworts) is among our most internationally significant biodiversity assets, and potentially highly vulnerable to climate change.

Bryophytes on telly! Brilliant piece on the BBC's "Landward" (Ep. 14, right at the end) about our very rare snowbed bryophyte communities, the potential threats to them from climate change and the importance of passing on knowledge

My contribution was very small indeed but it's great to see this finally published! By far the most comprehensive overall phylogeny of mosses to date. Satisfying to see strong support for the "protopleurocarp" groups I tentatively identified during my PhD.

Brilliant new bryophyte phylogeny poster: bang up-to-date (although some groupings are much more uncontroversial than others). Preprints 7:e27571v1; ) is available for download at

Interesting - but what this says to me is that (just as with most humans) the machine isn't looking closely enough..
