Can you give some examples?

I very much people like Grünbaum, Lakatos, late Carnap and others. They do give their big pictures but they also give you a lot of craft materials such that you can go on and make a different philosophy.

I just buy books on amazon and never read them.

As long as you buy them, you are doing good to philosophy. Reading them is a toilsome endeavor and will prevent you from buying more of them.

I think its good to try both out; the latter will force one to unify their threads. I think the most well honed philosophers at the very least will endeavor with case studies (e.g., Novaes, Koopman, Mark Wilson, Gilmore and so on); if ur logic is non-programmable what good is it

This is why we publish our proofs in math journals so they can tested out; if we are going to be serious about logic we need to start with symbolic logic also, not ludics. I think we (not me necessarily but someone) should teach a symbolic language intro course at New Centre

which category does brandom fall under? he clearly provides methods and tools for others to use, but his broader project shares some aspects with the 'farmer-cook' picture of philosophy
