I had no idea Buzzati's book had been adapted into a film. With a score by Morricone, no less! How is it?

Magnificent. It's filmed in Bam citadel, Iran before the revolution. The feel of the citadel adds a lot to the sinister mood of the movie. It also picks some elements from Cavafy's poem on which Buzzati's book is based.

The Invitation, yes. I’ve been on a horror kick too, really liked Ari Aster’s Midsommar and Hereditary. You seen them?
-
Midsommer I think was much better than Hereditary. The latter was a bit too all over the place. But Midsommer was the definition of good horror genre, horror doesn't need to be set in a nightmarish situation but in the most dazzling landscape under an eternal sunshine.

The Invitation...I've watched it last year and things went more or less like this: I fell asleep halfway through the film, then woke up 20 minutes from the end and said "what the hell is going on?". Buzzati is a surprise. I enjoyed the reading, and re: the movie: what a cast!
-
Not just the cast but the location. One of the worst tragedies in my life was to see Bam citadel being leveled by an earthquake. Screw Earth!

Reza did you like carpenter's christine?
-
I have to rewatch it but yes, have watched it. It's a quirky movie even by Carpenter's standards.
