You are an idiot. You might have problems with organizers, but the instructors spend a lot of time in researching, teaching and assisting students. Look at the seminars of David Auerbach, Dan Sacilotto, Inigo Wilkins, Ray Brassier and Anil Bawa Cavia. Do you get that in academia?

I'm sure the instructors you list are great, I don't see why they can't offer their services independently of pretentious gatekeeping clowns.

You see finding audience is not easy. I know that from experience as someone who has been out of academia for many years. independent teaching sounds good on the paper but it's a distant dream at this point. New Centre have its flaws like any institution but it's good at ...

bringing fresh blood. Mind you, instructors are paid around 2k foe eight 2.5 sessions. It's not that either the instructors or the new centre swallow the money. Like any systematic attempt, funds should be distributed either for classes that have few students or other costs.

I'm skeptical they're competent at anything much less bringing fresh blood. Nobody has heard of the New Center, their individual instructors have a greater reputation and reach generally speaking. They are unnecessary.

I think you have had a bad experience. Since I took the charge of critical philosophy program, I made sure all instructors get paid on time and it worked. Some people might be unhappy with the remuneration but at least everyone gets paid the same and on time.

Great, everybody gets paid the same regardless of quality. How is this superior to a donation model again?

The donation model is based on a person's clout. X has more clout and gets more donations. Y is a far more talented person but doesn't have the recognition, so Y gets less donations. You need a system to distribute the funds so both X and Y get the same remuneration and teach.

That would beg the question why Y has less recognition if they're more talented than X, or introduce the reverse problem with people contributing little but still leeching from the pool of funds.

Welcome to the shitscape of education. This is the hard problem and you can't bypass it by moaning or saying all institutions are evil.

Like any complex situation, you need to navigate the constrains, rather than ignoring them. The target is alt education i.e. teaching, topics and the logistics. But you have to work your way up rather than positing a quasi-solution that devolves once it faces real world.
