Harakiri is a film that comes from the future. Kobayashi's style of narration exceeds the usual logics of movies shot in the 60s. Unfortunately, an unfairly neglected director. Harakiri's final scene let you understand why John Wick is so poor.

Also don't miss the film adaptation of John Ford's play. It's very good and the last scene resembles the last scene of Harakiri.

The movie title "Addio fratello crudele" (literary "goodbye cruel brother") doesn't credit the original one though, hahah.

Yes, but they had to change the title back to the original for a broader distribution.

Fair enough. We Italians are rather (in)famous for our way of translating movie titles.

No, the Italian title was the original movie title, but they realized it's best to use the actual Ford's play title on which the movie was based, perfect Jacobean revenge drama.

Oh yes, the Italian movie title is the original one. In this case, it's more a matter of badly translating from the original play LOL.

I mean, the jump from "Peccato che sia una sgualdrina" to "Addio fratello crudele" is really bad.
