Harakiri is a film that comes from the future. Kobayashi's style of narration exceeds the usual logics of movies shot in the 60s. Unfortunately, an unfairly neglected director. Harakiri's final scene let you understand why John Wick is so poor.

It's a masterpiece in every sense, it is just you need to have a very strong psyche to watch it and not recoil in depression and terror.
Yes and no, he was an extreme realist. Every scene is a constrained, precise and stark picture of reality with hardly any avant-garde intervention. In literature, the only work I have in mind in terms of this stark realism is Juan Rulfo's The Burning Plain.
So should I expect a kind of fierce and raw neorealism? Damn good.
