I don't see how that is, though? there's nothing "digital" about differentiation or integration, they're both just limits. just like e is a limit and not its digital representation, and can be computed digitally _or_ analoguely

You said the controller is doing computation, I said no it is not doing computation until you model it based on digital computation effectivity. Mathematical modeling of flow exchange is not computation.

Logical gates as engineers use them are fundamentally digital to begin with. You can get some fuzzy variations but you can account for it through weak effectiveness.

hmm disagreed here. I'm looking it up now and it seems my assumption was correct, P is implemented by a simple voltage divider amp, and I and D through the use of capacitors, a process that would be a stretch to call digital

These are fuzzy variables which go into every form of modeling. Digital computation can take care of them by introducing either something like paraconsistent logic, by weakening the criteria of effectivity or by moving toward a truly concurrent logic of computation.
