‘A Short Film about Killing’ was the ultimate gut-punch when I first saw it. More affecting — in its intimacy especially — than many more infamous films dealing with the spectacle of human (and specifically state) violence. It made look like a Saló is a pantomime.

Gut-punch is a good description. The only movie that competes with it is A man with a red sweater or something like that. It's based on the real events surrounding one of the last guillotine executions in France where you never know the convict is innocent or not.

Sacred and profane. Venice and Cannes. East and West. Value and Nihilism. Both 2018 movies. The first one is a profound reflection on the act of killing, highly recommended. I suppose you know the second one... I can't say I "liked it", but it is specular to the first one.pic.twitter.com/uNKvjugs7C

Glad you included the house jack built. What a movie and one of Dillon's bests.

Yes, excellent movie. As I said earlier, I had forgotten about it otherwise I had included it.
