I thought it was a pompous dressing up of basically the role that Jordan Peterson would come to play, ie hysterical and knee-jerk 'you can't make me say your pronouns' reaction dressed up in pious pseudo-critical garb. Its basically just a defense of privilege.

This is the "struggle without reconciliation" that dooms Adorno, as Habermas and Gouldner exquisitely explained. If there was nothing in the world, nothing in our work, that made life bearable, made capitalism worth it, there would be no hope for its replacement. A tragic lesson.

I'm dreadfully unfamiliar with the works of those three but the necessity of reconciliation makes intuitive sense to me, as I understand it. Anything good from Gouldner to read on this?

Kind of bored with this because I can tell the people on this thread and I just aren't going to agree. But as a concrete example: repeated, concerted, malicious misgendering of a trans person, someone called out on this could simply blame the so-called 'vampire castle.'

None of us believe that in the first place, we just disagree that Mark was, or could somehow be twisted, into endorsing that.
