If there is a sliding scale of intelligence, there's reason to believe AI would supersede humans in some arenas– though AI may maintain blindspots in huge areas that humans could exploit organically no matter how much it develops... even if AI could outsmart us regardlessly.

Replying to @JulespHamilton @Logo_Daedalus and
Intelligence or not, that's why I think human-AI hybrids will keep AI in check in the long run

AI is like a calculator-- it can tell us things-- but it is not intelligent. It is a tool.

Fair, but in comparison I'd argue a thermostat is more intelligent than a rudimentary calculator for the reason of how it responds to and senses its environment.

That's just using "intelligence" as a figurative metaphor.

It's not if you are thinking of intelligence as a sliding scale quality of pattern recognition, detection of erroneous patternicity (and self correction), and ability to plan into the future.

Yeah-- which is why I tell you your DEFINITION of INTELLIGENCE is DEHUMANIZING

No more than Copernicus was dehumanizing to man's ego. If a prerequisite for intelligence is consciousness, panpsychism is the/(a) theory of mind that encompasses all of nature and God

Your argument for AI is that Rocks are Intelligent.

Just extrapolating why Wittgeinstein stays winning.

Wittgenstein should typically win, but on many accounts he shouldn't. Nevertheless, as I said, I'm happy with either Carnap or Wittgenstein coming on the top.
