Markus Gabriel's I am Not a Brain is far better than his earlier works. But is this what philosophy of mind has devolved to?

Weird how whenever I eat a bunch of acid changes in my brain states reliably correspond to changes in my mental properties without fail. In fact my entire consciousness seems to disrupted by this hunk fatty meat. Must be my institutionalized neuro-centrism speaking.

Ex. hormonal fluctuations. Consciousness is natural, it is prone to change in causal factors. We are mostly conscious rather than self-cons in the rational sense. The global work space is a real constraint even though it shouldn't be conflated with conceptual self-consciousness.

Read neuro-materialists like Stanislas Dehaene, Jean Petitot and Jean-Pierre Petit.

Essentially, the starting point is Bernard Baars's global workspace theory and then you can take it from there.
