The central dogma of molecular biology hasn't visited us yet. Do you know that prions have been increasingly binding with plants and that even radiation can't neutralize a misfolded protein? (This message is brought to you by the ministry of fear) http://libgallery.cshl.edu/items/show/52220 …

prions are fascinating. soon (like, in 100 years!) we'll have protein engines which work with the logic of proteopathy. no more fuel, just folding and misfolding, attaching and detaching. cancer as locomotion.

Prions were hip berfore the Homo sapiens was a thing. What do you think annihilated Neanderthals?

the only magical thing in this shitty world is the geometry of proteins. i dunno how we don't have protein-theory by now.

We have. But only in the 70s people realized that proteins can exchange information. That was the the time that biology faced a nightmare out of space.
