That was the stupid cricket's fault. CT is notorious for cicadas which I love, the greatest evolutionary anti-predatory insect. When they come out of their cycle, they are like a horror symphony played 24/7. Many people develop inner ear damage because of it here.

You know that there are two kinds of cicada, the cycle ones and the annual ones. In the summer, I spend a good amount of time to remove their shells from the house.

Malaysia had all of this. Nature in its most nightmarish. Snakes, civets, monitor lizards running into your pipes, toxic fungi, insects the size of a mammoth, fruit-pooping bats, unfunny monkeys, bandit lutungs. I think there was a good reason British colonialists hated the place
