Among all tropes of body horror, perhaps there is nothing more frightening than an astronaut losing his vision while in zero g-force environment. It induces a complete confusion of all bodily orientations, as if you are a protoplasm being disembodied and dissipated into the void.

The sense of orientation or movement is the result of the neural synthesis between signals sent by gravity and visual receptors (inner ear, stomach, retina). If one loses the vertical gravity, the visual signals can still simulate a semblance of these senses.
