Re Alex Perkins's post below. The sudden jump in cases suggests that thousands more are already infected. In comparison with the rate of proliferation in other countries, the US looks terrible. Here you can compare it here: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/ …

I did the math. Iran may have about 250 times more #COVID19 cases than it is letting on. (You read that right.) https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2020/03/irans-coronavirus-problem-lot-worse-it-seems/607663/ … (in @TheAtlantic)

I think his figures are hyperbolic. My sister told me she was in contact withe her former colleagues at Shiraz medical university and blood transfusion, they said the mortality rate is around 20%. And the recovery rate is fake.

They think the number of infected people is around 30K based on their estimates given the fact that they only communicate with other health centers and universities.

Yes the recovery rate is ridiculous. and you can't trust the mortality either rate since not all cases go to hospitals. it's one big swarm-fuck anyway. imo the numbers are closer to the atlantic piece than to I.R's reports, e.g here in Mazandaran things look specially alarming.
