I personally think British dry humor is great, but sometimes it feels like swallowing a mouthful of bandages. Middle Eastern humor on the other hand is twisted, sinister and extremely unpredictable.

Persian, Arab and Jewish are all the same. But the similarity between Jewish humor and the Persian one is more striking.

There is a certain kind of impersonality in both of them, you first inflict the joke on yourself and then you proceed with the enemy. This makes it far more effective.

I had no idea. But Arabs - do they also have that kind of humor like Jews, which frequently is self-deprecating ?

With Arab nations, it differs from country to country. Egyptians, Iraqies, Lebanese and Syrians (actually, the entire Levant) are the same. But you don't get this immediately in some gulf regions. I think this is because of ancient cultural transmissions which are entrenched.
