I personally think British dry humor is great, but sometimes it feels like swallowing a mouthful of bandages. Middle Eastern humor on the other hand is twisted, sinister and extremely unpredictable.

Persian, Arab and Jewish are all the same. But the similarity between Jewish humor and the Persian one is more striking.

There is a certain kind of impersonality in both of them, you first inflict the joke on yourself and then you proceed with the enemy. This makes it far more effective.

For example think of that comedy they made about the execution of Eichmann. To many Westerners, it is bad taste but it is truly gold and self-emancipating.
