Think of this, Cyrus managed to capture the known civilized world around the same time a medical student graduates. His imperialism was not of the Assyrian kind, it was based on federalism.

Genghis was not an imperialist. To get imperialism you need at least two things: (1) central government / federalism (2) central currency / coinage. Not every expansionist is imperialism in this sense.
