Ditch the instrumentalism and embrace pragmatism then.

instrumentalism is just pragmatism about science.

Instrumentalism about science is fine so long as you see its strict limitations. But an overblown instrumentalism will have the same fate as that of logical empiricism. Duhem's critique regarding the underdetermination of theories by data tests alone is still uncontested.

"Data tests" are a poor theoreticist translation of practical applications, which is in turn a vague way of talking about winning games. AlphaZero provides the concrete model for transcendental tests, or unsurpassable demonstrations.

Platonic-Hegelian sneering at AlphaZero is exactly what is to be expected from dementia-phase neohumanism.

You keep counting your AI boardgames victories until the end of time. You can't make a singularity pill out of it.

How many centuries of boring and futile ventriloquizing of Capitalism as the emergent AI is it going to take for you to realize this is just Nostradamus in new clothes?

Capitalism obviously facilitates optimization. Bad ventures bleed money while good ones are allocated it. Aspects of the good ventures are imitated and the cycle continues.
