One of the most insightful albeit disheartening (and rightly so) pieces on doing philosophy by one of the most clear-sighted people I know:https://write.as/formerly-known-as-a-philosopher/confession-of-an-ex-philosopher …
I know Fab, he is one of the best. Sometimes, you get burnt out in academia sooner than later. I was first sad but now, I think he is right. He can be a happier person. But there are also cases who can't live without philosophy. The recognition of this distinction is important.

True. But read the post carefully. You will find a reiteration of a need to be recognized; to find validation of the individual's "work"; and, most tellingly, a latent tendency to take oneself seriously. That's why "playfulness" is such a valuable concept.

Dude, as friendly as possible: no. Or at lest I sure didn't intend to put it there. If you mean a generic "everyone likes to be considered important", sure why not I'm no hermit. But I can assure you there is nothing of my academic production that "I take seriously".
