How can metaphysics be scientific? What are these fundamental ontologies you are referring to?

No I meant that metaphysical vagaries that derive from ontological hypostatization are in fact NOT scientific. I', mostly referring to 'Everything is X' paradigms. X being networks, actants, processes, etc.
