Nah, Alanya. the touristic hell on earth. full of fat Russians and fundamentalist Muslims who greet you cause you have a beard.

No Istanbul is the only place. Maybe even Cappadocia if you can't tolerate crowds. I actually like the crowdiness of Turkey, in US there is no such a thing unless you live in NYC or some other hellish megacity.

yep, Istanbul is great as long as you have enough money to get by. when the money runs out (and it eventually will) then not that great. actually, i got deported in the end, the didn't like my attitude at the airport. that is one the high-points of my life.

Druj! Yes that's very true, all mega-cities look great as long as you are fresh and have money. When I saw NYC, I was just drooling and a friend of mine put us in some posh apt. for free on the upper east side. I really thought that NYC is not that bad. I was wrong.

oh, but as a teenager, i had wet-dreams about non-neat places in new york. always wanted to live on one of those 70's Skidrows.

K actually saw them firsthand in the 80s. That grittiness is no longer there, but crazies still roam freely.

I'm sure the time will come when you land here here and I will bbq some steaks for you. America needs to be taken with a grain of salt but I actually feel safe and comfortable here.
