One of the most insightful albeit disheartening (and rightly so) pieces on doing philosophy by one of the most clear-sighted people I know:https://write.as/formerly-known-as-a-philosopher/confession-of-an-ex-philosopher …

Fabio’s work introduced me to much of the philosophy that occupies me these days. Somewhat ironic in light of his Salierian soliloquy here, but grateful to him all the same

To be honest, I knew Brandom but I became interested in Sellars not through Ray, but through Fabio.

Sorta like how Ray introduced me to I&S, but Fabio’s interview with you for Nero got to me to actually read it Grateful to all 3 for that

The only reason I don't think all philosophers are not jerks (which mostly are) is because of people like him, Ray, Robin and others. There is a refreshing shift from just talking about philosophy to personal connections and topics like depression, jokes, desires, happiness, etc.

Ray and Pete Wolfendale have both been tremendously kind and generous to me with their time and guidance despite having absolutely no incentive to suffer the questions of a person pursuing Phil. knowledge from the autodidactic margins. It has meant the world

Pete is not a human being, the sheer amount of intellectual energy he has is almost godly. Not sure if you know anything about our communist reading group, but you can find more people like them there.

I did not know about that group, but would certainly interested/excited to know more. I also did my level best to read/understand Thinking and Being if that reading group is still in the works. Definitely as head scratching as you forewarned...

We are reading Postone's book on value and labor alongside shorter text. If you DM me your email, I can send you the details.
