I think we need as many philosophers as possible. But they shouldn't be strictly academic or acting as professional philosophers. Imagine if technicians and engineers were philosophers. The problem in not just the quantity but the quality and the understanding of Philo should do.

One thing that Fabio mentions and I believe in is to train children philosophy. If we had done that we wouldn't be in this philosophy black market to begin with. Philosophy is absolutely important but only when it becomes widespread as the core of humans' thoughts and actions.
