Fabio’s work introduced me to much of the philosophy that occupies me these days. Somewhat ironic in light of his Salierian soliloquy here, but grateful to him all the same

To be honest, I knew Brandom but I became interested in Sellars not through Ray, but through Fabio.

I think we need as many philosophers as possible. But they shouldn't be strictly academic or acting as professional philosophers. Imagine if technicians and engineers were philosophers. The problem in not just the quantity but the quality and the understanding of Philo should do.

Aww. BTW, this "clear-sighted" person is currently trying to find out if any Italian publisher is crazy enough to want to have your I&S pamphlet translated. I'm so gonna regret this.

Oh, I think you are making bad decisions. Just buy a raft of medusa and set sail in the international waters, forget all of this stuff.

So much of this resonates well with me but so much feels like the exhaustion of someone whose potential passion has been shown to be possible only if one puts up with academic bullshit. It's sad that it's probably true, the road for philosophy academics is littered w/ bullshit

The more I have spent time outside of academia, the more I have realized that there is something fundamentally wrong with people who can endure it even being proud of their achievements. If I was in academia and doing philosophy, I would have quit after a year max.
