Reza! Reza! Delany is much more than ok. I mean Dhalgren is just incredible and some of his theory-laden sf&f works are dear to my soul (the fisrt part of stars in my pocket i think is the greatest scifi i've ever read, what about Neveryon??) And his non-scifi stuff, like hogg

Dhalgren is great, but have read Hogg? Druj almighty! Even as a former fan of transgressive lit, I couldn't stomach it.

I have read much more extreme novels but there is something in Hogg that disturbs me to my core. By more extreme, I mean some novels by my friend Matthew Stokoe, like Cows or High Life.

This is why I truly hate that worthless worm Peter Sotos. I can read everything but not this kind of stuff.

I have a suggestion for you in the vein of the good old Jim Thompson which I really recommend: Wolfson's Bodies are Dust written in 1931 if you can believe it.

I like the title already. I'm going on a short trip tomorrow. Will pick it up during the trip. That is, if there's any e-version.

Don't know how much you are familiar with Jim--dime store Dostoyevsky--Thompson. But Pop. 1280 and Savage Nights are must read.

Not familiar at all (i go for major ghouls usually, been always secretly shamed of that tendency). Will look into Pop. 1280 i think, seems promising.

Thompson is the greatest writer of pulp noir. Imagine if you are a communist, write transgressive grim novels and you also look like an American version of Dostoyevsky who wrote the demons. Top it up with some avantgarde style. Is this a good selling point?
