Sorry haters you get into cybernetic when you don't know about complexity theory or computer science. Get a complex-comp partner please.

You get logic, language, math, physics and even chemistry. It's quite a broad field which can go either towards natural sciences or logic. For example, look at Abramsky's Oxford program to see how broad computer science can get.

I'd say cybernetics stretches just as far... Is that a measure of its strength?

OK, so computer science doesn't hold special status over cybernetics... Does complexity theory? Or the combination of the two?

I think this is not the question of which fields are above which other fields. Rather, it's the question that a good paradigm / field should be at once general and capable of addressing specific issues. Complexity theory today is a hybrid of physics and computer science.
